4. Settignano Tuscany Homes
Best for those hiring a car
Area: Florence Hills | Check location here
The narrow streets of the historic centre of Florence weren’t made for cars, but parking is not a problem if you stay in the Florence Hills.
Settignano Tuscany Homes is located in the tranquil village of Settignano, a ten-minute drive from the centre of Florence. It’s an enchanting destination in its own right.
These affordable 4-star apartments have a real country-cottage vibe with exposed wooden beams and patterned soft furnishings. The kitchen has a washing machine (always a bonus for me).
After a busy day seeing the sights of Florence, you can cool off in the outdoor swimming pool or relax in the garden with a good book.

8. Soggiorni D’Arte Centro storico Firenze accanto a Ponte Vecchio
Best for an affordable stay in the Oltrarno
Area of Florence: Santo Spirito | Check location here

Staying in the Oltrarno can also get you more bang for your buck. Personally, I love this area. It’s a small slice of old Firenze where artisan worships sit cheek-by-jowl with some of Florence’s finest eateries.
If your budget won’t stretch to Portrait Firenze (my #1 pick) then take a look at this gorgeous apartment complex. Sadly, its spacious apartments don’t come with that prized Arno view.
Their well-equipped kitchens have a dishwasher, stovetop, washing machine, dryer and coffee maker.
Be aware that there is no lift. The owners run the restaurant on the ground floor.
