Privacy Policy

I respect your privacy and am committed to protecting it. The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform you what personally identifiable information I may collect and how it may be used.

By visiting Flashpacking Italy, you are accepting the practices described in this Privacy Policy. Please note that this policy does not describe information collection practices on other sites, including those linked to or from Flashpacking Italy.

1. Who am I?

My name is Bridget Coleman and I am the owner of Flashpacking Italy. I am based in London, England.

My website address is https://flashpackingitaly.com/

To contact me please email hello@theflashpacker.net

2. Cookie policy

A cookie is a small file that is sent from a website and stored on your computer whilst you are accessing that website.

By visiting Flashpacking Italy, you agree by default for cookies to be placed on your device.

If you do not want Flashpacking Italy to place cookies on your device, you can refuse the use of cookies via your browser’s settings or options.  However, this may stop the site from functioning properly.

There are three different types of cookies used:

  • Performance cookies: These allow me to understand visitors’ interactions with the website, for example via Google Analytics.

These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website; for instance, which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages.

Although Google Analytics does collect demographic data such as age, gender and which country you are based in, these cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works.

This information is only used for me to adapt the content within my website to reflect my audience and make it a better experience for them.

  • Cookies associated with affiliate programs: Flashpacking Italy is a participant in affiliate programs (see below). These affiliate programs utilise cookies to track visits for the purposes of assigning commission on these sales.
  • Strictly necessary cookies: These allow visitors to navigate around Flashpacking Italy. Any information gathered by these cookies is not used for marketing purposes. They are anonymous.

At a future date, comments may be enabled on the website. If you leave a comment on Flashpacking Italy you may opt in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit my login page, I will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, I will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

You can learn more about cookies at allaboutcookies.org

3. How long I retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so I can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

4. What rights do you have over your data?

If you have left comments on this site, you can request that I erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data I am obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

5. Where I send your data: Askimet

When comments are enabled, these are checked through an automated spam detection service, Askimet. This helps filter out spam comments before they are published on the site.

Askimet collects information about visitors who comment on Flashpacking Italy. This information includes the commenter’s IP address, user agent, referrer, and Site URL (along with other information directly provided by the commenter such as their name, username, email address, and the comment itself).

Some of the links on Flashpacking Italy are affiliate links. If you purchase products or services through these links, I may get paid a small commission. This does not incur any extra cost to you.
